FAQs

Bundled payments may sound complicated but they’re not. A bundled payment is simply a single price for the care required to treat a medical condition. Global 1 simplifies the process.

Global 1 is a licensed Third Party Administrator (TPA) and works between your insurance company (for example: Blue Shield or a self-insured company) and the doctors that do the work. Through our program, you will receive one easy-to-understand price before your procedure.

The average American can have up to 9 operations in their lifetime. If you haven’t already experienced the financial stresses of a procedure, you or a close family member likely will. This IS avoidable. The Global 1 program is one payment. We bundle everything together for one price. One price that you can understand for everything AND we set the prices in advanced.

The methodology draws on the payment approach of almost every other industry. For example, when purchasing a car, consumers don’t get a bill for the motor, brakes and interior from different suppliers. So in healthcare, why are patients asked to individually pay each provider through separate payments?

The patient benefits from the bundled payment program because the payment procedure of an operation is simplified and minimizes stress at an already stressful time. We make it simple, your TOTAL due payment will be evaluated, and you will receive one price before the operation. Through Global 1, your bill is often significantly less expensive and is always more predictable than a hospital bill.

A Global 1 customer service rep will call you to discuss the benefits related to your plan and the out of pocket expenses you should expect. Global 1 will collect your co-payment, deductible, or out of pocket on behalf of your providers for the surgical episode. This includes everything you need for the day of your operation bundled into one simple fee. For example: surgeon, assistant, anesthesiologist, medications for the day of surgery, nursing, and even post-operative care in some cases.

Global 1 is a local network, we work alongside the doctors that are already in your community. We currently have more than 135 surgery centers in California and more than 70 bundled procedures in Orthopedics, Neurology, Gynecology, ENT, Urology, General Surgery, etc.

If you are currently seeing a provider that would like to do your procedure under a Global 1 surgery bundled payment, you will receive a call from our patient services representative to discuss your benefits and out of pocket expenses prior to your surgery.

If you would like to find a physician within our network please call our patient services department at 888-292-5518.
